Our future researchers

11 March 2013

Twenty gifted and talented Maori and Pacific students learnt what it was like to be researchers recently when they carried out simple and fun investigations at this year's Brain Day. The theme of Brain Day was 'your creative brain' and the students ran tests measuring coordination, verbal fluency and attention.

The students were taking part in the LENScience 'Students as Researchers' programme, which teams up 20 gifted and talented Year 10 students from Tamaki College, Aorere College and Southern Cross Campus with ten scientists from the Centre for Brain Research (CBR).

Students work on a small science project under the mentorship of their teachers and scientists.  They create a research question, conduct a literature review, collect and analyse data and present their findings to their families and members of the public, including scientists from the Liggins Institute and the Centre for Brain Research.
