Interactive Learning Resources Released

24 March 2021
Lunch Challenge

The Pacific Science for Health Literacy Project team are excited to share a new set of interactive resources that support exploration of complex biological issues -  diabetes and related noncommunicable diseases. The resources align to learning objectives at Level 6 of the New Zealand Curriculum and the Cook Islands Curriculum Framework.

  • Access examples of the interaction activities here
  • Many of the resources can be used for younger age groups.
  • The resources exploring more complex scientific aspects of diabetes are valuable for Year 12 and 13, and for Health education.
  • Access the full suite of learning and teaching resources here

The resources have been developed by a collaboration between the University of Auckland's Liggins Institute and the Cook Islands Ministry of Education and Te Marae Ora, Cook Islands Ministry of Health that is funded by a Partnerships for International Development grant from the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The teachers who have co-designed, tested and refined the resources are from Araura College, Nukutere College, Tereora College and Titikaveke College.

We acknowledge the earlier resource developed in collaboration with schools in New Zealand, from which these new tools have evolved. We hope that our New Zealand colleagues will make use of these new tools in their classrooms.
