A message from our Director, Jacquie Bay
Today our lives depend on science. Young people need to develop knowledge and skills to help them make informed decisions about how science impacts on their lives and the social, economic and environmental well-being of their communities.
LENScience aims to improve the scientific and health literacy of Year 7-13 school students by giving them opportunities to explore health based socio-scientific issues through the lens of current scientific thinking. To achieve this we have developed a matrix of innovative programmes to enable science-science education interactions that facilitate communication and translation of science and support increased scientific literacy within New Zealand communities.
Our curriculum linked programmes, co-designed by teachers and scientists, create opportunities for adolescents to explore the world of science and support teachers to bring the excitement of cutting edge research into their classrooms.
